I have choosen some paint chips from one company and I will be using a different brand to actually paint with. Is there an online site where I can go for a conversion? |

Hi,
Best way I know is, just go into, or call, the paint store of choice. I doubt anyone would do this online because colours are not accurate over the web.
Also... colour matches are never exact so depending on how precise you need the match, and what paint store you choose, you may need to bring in a sample of your colour.
I believe Benjamin Moore ( "the colour experts") have the largest selection of colours( over 2500 colours) so you may want to look for one near you.
Most quality retail paint stores however, can get a close match. It really comes down to the quality of paint you are looking for.
If you do find an online source, please post the link here.

Great question.
After searching around I see things have developed more since that last time I looked.
If I am looking for near exact matching of a colour, I use Adobe Photoshop. I scan the colour sample, import the image into my Mac/PC, open it up in Photoshop and from there I can break any colour down in a formula. This method is as good as the scanner you use.
Here are a few interesting links on what I do at home, merging online now: If you could actually upload your image and use one of these sites to find the formula, your question is solved.

P.S.
When I was part of the Benjamin Moore Painting & Decording Services in the Lower Mainland, I recieved this software. Its also available in all their retail stores across North America for around $20 CAD. Its pretty cool software and definitely useful for interior decorators, painters or anyone wanting to see how a home/ room could look using various colour schemes in a virtual world.
Here is the link

find and click the personal colour viewer 2.0 link. |
