You should never power wash your log home prior to staining. If you do I would wait a long time to allow it to dry out. Corncob blasting and buffing is the best
method if you need to remove some serious history. It is a dry process and you can continue with the rest of the work
immediately. The proper order is - blast, sand and buff, if necessary,
treat, stain and chink if necessary.
Hot Hot Climate, what do I do then?
If it is very hot on the other hand and you want to "cool down" the wood before staining a water based or waterborne stain, misting the wood with a power washer can be helpful.
If you can get your logs to look like this you are on your way.
