Basic Cost To Finish Your Log Building

A bit about me first...

  • Painted my first house at the age of 12 years old.
  • Apprenticed for 3 years under european painters finishing high end residential custom built homes loaded with feature wood walls, custom cabinets, oak stairways Fir, windows, Mahogany doors, trim etc.
  • Two years at a Cochane Trade School.
  • Age 12 I was invited to the Minneapolis College of Art after winning an art talent search.
  • Also built log homes so I understand a wider view about the business of log home building.
All this experience is blended into my log finishing arsenal package. I have the painting and wood finishing skills found only with the finest journey painters. We apply old school craftsmanship with modern tools to achieve the finest finishing possible. "This is not fast food" If you want your home to look stunning, I am the man to hire. Contact Us

Here is a breakdown on how to estimate the cost to professionally finish your log building.

  • If a log wall is 10 ft. high and 40 ft. wide this would be 400 sq. ft. NOTE: add an extra 1.2 % for log contour
  • If you have a timber frame building estimate the linear ft. of wood then times that by the circumference of the logs. A 10 ft. log that is 2 ft. round would be 20 sq. ft.

The Pro Finish... Buffing and Sanding (AWESOME!)
Below are special nylon brushes I use for log finishing. If you want smooth, clean and natural looking logs, this process takes logs to a new level. Not only do I clean and polish the logs but I keep the draw knife contours, hand hewn marks etc. perfect. I don't grind out the hand crafted work and turn the logs into scared looking grinder marked telephone poles. I buff the logs to an ultra smooth finish. The finish goes on like butter! Dusting is so much easier years later.
Sanding and buffing is very labour intensive work and worth every penny spent!

Cost: Depending on project...

Includes: entire house air blasting & vacuum

Staining or clear coating with the Titan HVLP (Low Pressure High Volume) Sprayer.

This is the ultimate way to finish wood. Its very eco and produces the highest quality. I push the finish deep into the logs for maximum penetration and finish depth. Nothing better!
